Hello friends in Christ, we are only a few weeks away from PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH RALLY DAY, Sunday, August 16, 2026! The Rally Day committee of Geri Burnett, Mary Ann Fenske, Marie Gest, Lisa von Gonten, and Shirley Sharp have been planning a fun filled day for members, family and friends.
We will start the morning with our traditional church service, featuring music by Keller Driskill, Bob and Geri Burnett’s grandson. (Keller was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church 27 years ago.) We will also have ‘Blessings of the Backpack’ for anyone going back to school, no matter what age or what school or what position! Bring your backpack, school bag, or briefcase and invite friends and family to bring theirs for a blessing also! What a wonderful way to begin school, with a special blessing to carry you through the year. Rally Day also includes the installation of Sunday School teachers at Peace Lutheran.
After church, we’ll gather in the Fellowship Hall for a yummy, seasonal hot dog lunch with all the trimmings … chili, cheese, onions, relish and so on…, chips and lemonade. Then, we’ll finish lunch with ice cream. Sounds summery and yummy, right?
One of the best things about this Rally Day is just getting together in fellowship, thanking and praising God for his many blessings, that will carry us through the upcoming church and school year. But the fellowship will continue after lunch. If you enjoy dominoes, stay for some fun games, led by Judy York and Bill Sager. Rebecca Lucky will have photos from past Peace activities, looping on a screen, for us to remember other great times at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. Keller will sing a few more songs during the day, too. If BINGO is your game, get ready for some fun bingo games. There will be a coloring cloth for all ages to work on and enjoy.
Put Sunday, August 16 on your calendar, invite family and friends to join us on this Rally Day at church, for lunch and to continue the fellowship with fun and games! We are hoping that some of our past members will have friends and family contact and invite them to share in our celebration!
